The Exploitation of U.S. Worker Productivity

Happy Labor Day!  As you may know, the US departs from the rest of the world in celebrating its workers’ holiday on the first Monday in September.  Other nations recognize International Workers Day or May Day on May 1st. But the chart below, from Sociological Images (“The Exploitation of U.S. Worker Productivity”) suggests that American workers don’t have much to celebrate.   While worker productivity has risen steadily over the past four decades, American workers haven’t gotten a raise since the early 1970s.
