‘A Rapper’s Red Scare’

“A rapper’s red scare” (Salon) – Grammy Award-winning rapper Lupe Fiasco lost control of his Twitter feed following a debate on Marxist theory:

Here’s Lupe Fiasco’s take on the American Dream, etc. – “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free),” the lead single from his last album, Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album.

  1. i have been listening to Lupe for years and have seen him live many times. This is not the first time Lupe fiasco has tweeted or said something controversial. In many of his songs he talks about changing society, deviance and racism. His basis is that if people want change THEY need to help start it.

  2. I coincidently was just watching a Lupe interview with Tavis Smiley. He (indirectly) gets into some of this. I saw many topics that we have covered in the past come up in this conversation, in some way. Here’s the link: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/tavissmiley/interviews/hip-hop-artist-lupe-fiasco/#top
